GARBO is based on the true story of Juan Pujol García—never before dramatized on screen. After surviving the Spanish Civil War, he and his wife, Araceli, launched a perilous intelligence operation aimed directly at Nazi Germany. Creating an entire network of fictitious spies, they set out to bleed the Third Reich for cash—betting their lives they could stay one step ahead of the Gestapo.
Later code-named GARBO by MI5, Juan's masterful deception diverted entire German divisions and saved thousands of Allied soldiers on D-Day. Valued so highly by enemies and allies alike, he was awarded both the German Iron Cross and the British MBE — earning a true "Double Cross."
